PIE Online
The Platform for International Education promotes activities of the Dutch Institutes for post-secondary education in the field of institutional strengthening of education and research capacity in developing countries and countries in transition, through education, research and consultancy for students, staff and mid-career professionals. On 1 July 2002 the Platform for International Education was launched by a number of Institutes for Higher Education in the Netherlands. On 6 April 2004 PIE became an official association.
Seven reasons to be(come) a PIE member
- to get to know who else is dealing with capacity development in the Global South.
- to have an channel to discuss/exchange practical experiences with the NUFFIC on the capacity building programmes like Orange Knowledge Programme (successor of NFP & NICHE)
- to have a voice in fora (Nuffic, Ministry of Foreign Affairs and Ministry of Education) where the future of international capacity development and international cooperation in education is discussed
- to be aware of relevant policy changes affecting international cooperation
- to influence politics and governmental organizations in shaping new policies and programmes for international cooperation
- to be informed about - and trained in applying to - programmes offering opportunities to collaborate with low and middle income countries in the domain of capacity building and international education
- to exchange experiences with peers on how to set-up and organize international cooperation activities.
