Erik Frederiks

Erik Frederiks (1952) studied Human Geography (specialization: Regional Planning of developing countries) at the “Vrije Universiteit “ of Amsterdam.

After his study, he stayed for two years at this University as a research assistant before going to West Africa where he worked for more than 5 years in Cameroon and Mali as an SNV staff member.

From 1989 onwards, he worked for “Wageningen Universiteit”, starting as the Coordinator of the Wageningen University Sahel Programme within the Office for International Relations and later on as Liaison Officer within the Department of Environmental Sciences.

He was involved in many international cooperation projects in West Africa and Eastern Europe.

In the period of 1994 - 1997, he worked at the University of Abomey-Calavi (Bénin) in a NUFFIC project.

From 2005-2010, he was involved in the NPT funded water projects at this same University.

Actually he is the NUFFIC Liaison Officer for Wageningen University and Research Centre.

The challenge is a to jointly train and prepare a new generation that will able to cope the problems the world is facing".
